The installation at Catapult Communications suggests to the viewer that they that are looking at one side of a very large machine that is embedded in the wall. It could be the back or the front or one side. It is a fictitious machine, of course.
With regard to materials and process, the piece is consistent with the small ( by comparison) wall sculptures that I make using aluminum, stainless steel, plastic etc. But the large scale (9 ft. high x 12ft wide) offered a great opportunity to combine and explore the use of slivers of bright color with subtle grays of metal. Plus the 1/2" acrylic adds a richness and depth.
